Mighty Mini Motor Meyhem

The Alpine Ace

I'm interested in building an FT Mighty mini (don't know which one yet, probably P51) and I am on a low budget. I had a spare 24 gram blue wonder laying around and I was wondering if that small motor would work on a mini. I have a 12 amp esc and all kinds of batteries.
I'm worried about
1. Will a blue wonder be too heavy?
2. Will it throw of the balance?
3. I noticed it's shaft length is longer than the motors FT sells for mini's... will that be a problem?
4. What prop size should I use?

Thanks in advance! Happy flying to you all!

Build another!
Main issue is the X mount. It really sticks out from the power pod firewall and barely fits. The 24 gram didn't do so well on a Mini Sportster. The angle on the firewall got it real close to the foam, and I had to push the pod way back.

Not saying it can't be done. A little tail weight, a high tolerance for torque roll maybe...

I put a 17 gram hex on a Mini Scout and it works fine. Still sticks out there a ways. The Sportster benefited from the 2406 I eventually put on. An 1806 would work great too, if not as much power, I think (based on the way it works in the Tiny Trainer).

It could probably be made to work, weight is largely the same. There are a few issues that will come up.

It's long, and will stick way out. Could be adjusted for somewhat by moving the power pod in further.

Prop will need to be large - 8x4.7 SF is what I would use. Might look a little funny, but should work fine, and with a prop saver it should still land ok.

The plane will fly much slower, which is both good and bad depending on what you like. You'll probably want to up the control surface rates a bit.
