Mini FliteFest New England

I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for another one. Maybe we can get more people to fly with us. That was such a great day!

Wake up! Time to fly!
Yes, we had a blast! And yes, there was video shot. The combat was recorded, however, I noticed upon review that the battery must have been depleted cause the sound got some weird hum most likely from switching voltage regulator (cap cam). I'll post it soon, but it sounds awful (but its fun to listen to us laughing). I started editing last night. It takes a bit more time to get a vid presentable. Most of the pictures in my posts were extracted from the video.

I get the hard video editing thing. I have tried to clean up a few of my videos from the mounted camera just to cut volumes down and it seems every time I do somehow the video quality suffers in the change.. It is still worth seeing I am sure as you all look like you had a blast with the big smiles when presenting your planes for pics.

Those are all great photos! What a good time meeting and flying with everyone!

Here's some of the video I put together so far. My Twin Baron maiden and Ron's FMS Corsair.

These videos were shot with this awesome setup:

JohnRambozo demonstrates true agility while flying the 75% Bloody Baron Twin, taking video with his mouth cam and talking to the onlookers.

Here's the FMS Extra 300 Maiden from later in the day when the wind was just right at 20+ mph and switching directions by the minute.

CaptRon looses EDF

Here are a couple of photos and a vid of CaptRon flying a jet. After a few minutes of flight, the undercarriage fell off and the EDF fell out.

The arrow points to the undercarriage after falling off and tumbling to the ground.

In this photo you can see the EDF hanging from its wire.

And here is a short vid of the activity.

How did you make the missiles on the FA-18E?

Also those Air Force logos... I want to do something like that on my FT-22.

In this article there are a couple of photos. I'll take some more pictures and add them here, but I don't have any right now. The body of the bigger missiles are copy paper rolled around an aluminum rod and glued together with Elmer's glue. The paper fins were glued on with hot glue.

The stars insignia were just printed with inkjet printer and glued on.

Making Missiles

Find a tube with the diameter that you want. Mine was a pretty large knitting needle.
Cut a piece of printer paper in half. Use Elmer’s glue to the edge going onto the tube and then on the final edge. Roll the paper around the tube. Roll it continuously until all the wrinkles are worked out.

The fins are made from card stock 5 cm wide and 1 cm tall. Cut at an angle and fold the bottom 2 mm over.

Hot glue the fins to the paper tube.

The nose is made from a tube that I have.

Hard points are made from foam core with toothpicks. Press them into the wing and tack in place with hot glue.

Here is the bottom of the plane after the other missiles got ripped off. The tacking worked as I planned… the missiles came off and the wing was left undamaged.
