Currently on the workbench of glydr is a mini quad much in the fashion of that of Sensei Windestal, who I blame for my multi-rotor addiction. Thank you David (if you are reading this) in the positive sense :thumbsup:

The HK Super Mini Quad thread has had quite some views (over 10,000!) so I thought some may appreciate my take on the mini quad.

Shopping list is pretty much per David's, and includes;

5g Hextronic Motors (4 of): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=6312&aff=61689
Plush 6A ESCs (4 of): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=4318&aff=61689
5x3 MR prop packs: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...llers_Standard_and_Counter_Rotating_6pc_.html
6x6 CF tube square (1 is enough for 1 quad): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...llers_Standard_and_Counter_Rotating_6pc_.html
And, of course, a multirotor board of your choice: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...ti_Rotor_Control_Board_V2_1_Atmega168PA_.html

Coated wire I had to hand, as well as heat shrink and the like.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CF tube was cut to length with a dremel. One length at 340mm, and two at 167.5mm. Thus arranged in a cross will place the chosen motors 160mm from the centre.

To help keep everything straight I drew the cross on a piece of paper, which was placed under a plate of glass which served as a flat surface for gluing everything together with epoxy. A small scrap of paper between the joint and the glass prevents the frame sticking to the glass.

Two sheets of thin-ply were cut (the same shape as a KK board) to serve as a base for the ESCs and a plate to velcro the battery to. They also stiffen the frame. These were PVAd together before epoxying to the frame.

The coated wire was de-coated at the ends with a knife, before preparing the ends with solder. Like David I drilled holes near the centre to thread these wires through.

The motors will be zip-tied in place as this one has been.

The boom lengths indicated above make for 160mm from motor shaft to centre when the motor mounts are zip tied such that the 'x' reaches the end of the boom, as photographed.

That's it for now.... waiting on some mystery items from HK which should help orientation.

Is that order here yet lobstermash?

Cheers all.

YAY! Let's see how it goes. Why not KK 2.0?

I actually bought all these bits some time ago, before the LCD KK board was released. I do have one of those boards however it is currently stuck to my tricopter.

At this rate it'll arrive before my FrSky stuff :mad:

Nice build. What are you going to do with this quad?

Sorry gents... I did get this finished (with photos) but am having terrible vibe issues. Have ordered some new props and will have to re-solder servo leads to the ESC to try high timing - now on med timing and not having joy :(

If I get it going I'll show you all how!

:)

New props arrived (cheers LM) but I think I've bent a motor while trying to get the prop-saver off.

<sigh>

Banggood might win... but I'll persevere some more soon.

Not much bench time at the moment. If I'm not working I'm preparing the sermon.
