launch was smooth and all seemed well then.....SMACK!!! You can actually hear it hit. Post mortem indicates that the rudder came loose. Surprisingly enough, damage was minimal.

Have you flown other planes? It looks like you were flying with full throttle, which makes a plane like that very tricky to control. At 1/4 throttle, it's a pussycat.

Pretty impressive climb rate on that thing and yes, half to 3/4 throttle to climb should be more than enough. I'm glad it didn't take much damage, means you get to go out there and learn even faster!

flew nito back in the late 80's..more crashing than flying lol. got tired of destroying the world supply of balsa so gave it up.
Thanks for the heads up on throttle! Will remember that one.

Yep! not near the emotional damage I felt with my balsa builds back in the day.
