Motor making error noise. (what is happening?)

It could also be the ESC is nor receiving the signal form the Tx.
Do the servos respond to stick movement form the Tx?
If not, it is possible the Rx lost its bind. Or if the ESC was unplugged from the Rx, you may have plugged it in with the plug upside down.

I agree with Mr NCT That is the throttle calibration error sound. It usually means the throttle "closed" position is not understood by the ESC so it will not arm..
Until the ESC is recalibrated the sound will repeat endlessly. As it indicates that the ESC is not "armed" the servo will all work
A complete lack of signal to the ESC usually results in a single repeated "beep" rather than the "tune".
If you have the instructions they will describe the throttle calibration routine.
