As an introductory post:
Is the HXT 24gram 1300KV motor good for multicopters? Specifically a tri?

Never catch a multirotor
Colorex, that HXT 25gr 1300kv is a good motor.
Best performance with a 8x4 props on a 3cell and 9x6 on a 2cell.
That makes it suitable for lets say 500mm quad / tri frames (hobbyking V1 in light spec).
Larger frames require between 28-35 size 750kv and 1000kv motors and 10" to 12" props with 3 or 4 cell lipo's.
Smaller frames around 15-18 size 2000kv with 5"-6" props with 2 cell lipo's.
All depending on the weight off course.
At least, this is my experience ...
I do not recommend prop savers.

Yeah I agree with burg I crashed more due to a propsaver failure than actually hitting anything...ill never use them again. A prop is a lot cheaper than losing the whole multicopter

I'm going to try the NTM Prop Drive Series 28-26A 1200kv from hobbyking
My next project is a larger QuadCopter and I have some 3300mah 4s laying around combine that motor with a 8x4, 3 blade prop should be pretty decent. Oh and I have to have a smaller prop for this project thats why I'm running a higher kv

@colorex: It depends pretty much on the size of your Multicopter, but you should always keep in mind that you want a motor with reasonable low kv so that the motor has lot of torque to accelerate the prop quick enough to compensate any instability.

So I suppose that since every motor has 400+ grams of thrust I will have 1200 grams max of thrust on the tri? How long flying time with a 1300mAh 3s or a 2200mAh 3s? Will I need higher C rating than 20C - 30C?

In general you can count with 3 times the thrust mention, so 1.2 kg on the tri. I never measured it but it is enough for carry a 0.5ltr full water bottle around ;-) Tri to get it in hoover at half throttle, then it is perfect.
A 1300mah will not give a long flying time. Even very short and can be 'dangerous' for quickly being out of power and crash. A 2200mah is better, gives about 5 minutes max. I start using 2650, 3300 and 4000 mah's to get some more time to practice and not worrying when to land. Remember to program the esc's in Ni-xx type.
C-rate? As high as possible. Turnigy Nano Techs are the best (20-50C are enough). Make sure you use a voltage alarm (led's + accoustic).
Those HK props will work but need quite a bit of CA tweeking for the correct balance. Best it to get the original APC Slow Flying props. Very sturdy and perfectly balanced out of the bag. Little more expensive .. get those when you have a good trimmed tri/quad.
Prop adapters for the BW should be 3mm. The collet type are shorter then the ones with 'grub screws'. Then you need very good balanced props ..

But always back order. Try to get them on ebay or something, very cheap but get more then you actually need as they can be badly balanced.

i have used these motors on many of my earlier builds, good motors bt i only used 7" props on my small sport flyers as seen in the videos below..
