yep, i was concerned about flying out of range with these 200mW video systems so the OSD will be very nice...I was going to use my Slow Stick as my first FPV platform that way it won't get too far too fast. With the OSD though, I may just use my Sky Surfer instead.

Have you noticed any difference in your friend's original or your Chinese copy?

Its great when you lose you bearings which is very easy to do as specially if you get a little flustered . . . like I do lol and you easily know which way to head back home.

Have you noticed any difference in your friend's original or your Chinese copy?

The main difference I've noticed is the Original has the reset button on the board and the Copy has it on a cable which is great. So for example I have my OSD mount forward of the nose in the Bixler so if I need to reset with the original I would have to remove the board hit the reset and put it back in. The copy had a cable with a switch on it and the works like a charm. That's the main difference but they use the same software and firmware so no real difference.

I can't remember if the GPS on the original has a battery or not

Well realistically if it bounced that hard to press the button the wings would fall off lol But seriously if that happened then it would think home is at that point and at that altitude :)

"Yeah umm you were 350m away!"

Here you can see quite nicely how much 1 kilometer is.
You barely see hte plane after a few hundreds of meters.
Nice video anyway.

Well, that does it. Thank you Thomas for showing me what I'm getting myself for Christmas.
Make sure you thank your father. This is what this hobby is about.

Thanks to you guys (and flitetest), I have chosen my first FPV set-up, and it is on the way! This is what I went with. Now if I understand correctly, I will need a Video Monitor, Ground Based Power Supply, and a Wide Angle Lens, just for the basics. Is there anything that I'm missing?

Nope so far everything is fine.

Just keep an eye on what monitor etc. you want to use and don´t forget any cables for that. Often you then have to buy a separate cable then if you don´t find it anywhere local.

You also might want to get a high pole to get the Video Tx a bit away from the close ground and away from all the noise near the people walking around etc.

Hi Guys

I have been watching this thread for a little while. I was wondering your thoughts on using a Futaba 6EX system vs a Turnigy 9X with FrSky. From what I can see the absolute range is very similar.

Kind Regards

Hi everyone,

I too have been reading this thread pretty much everyday for the past month or so. I have got the same setup as bmsweb and am going to put it all into a Bixler (I thought the EPP FPV would be too big and bulky for anything other than FPV and the TekSumo would be too jittery and twitchy for my first FPV plane). I have been reading about the FrSky receivers because they get heaps of range but I am not sure if they work with the Dx6i. Does anyone know if they do? and if not what would be a good Dx6i compatible receiver to use?

Yes there is an issue with the Channels and its kind of confusing the way its documented. When I get home I'll post some close up pictures that will show what channel I have each set to. But I do know what you mean.

OK Try this!

On the VTX Make sure all the Dip Switches are pushed Towards the number 1 2 3 4
On the VRX Make sure all the Dip Switches are pushed Away from the number 1 2 3 4

Let me know how this goes!

Possibly a problem with the antennas, if you have a 5.8GHz wireless access point used for home networks you may be able to unscrew an antenna of and test it on you transmitter/reciver

Sadly, it didnt worked ... still thinking they mixed up my receiver and send me a different freq range than i need with my TX.

waited too long for this :(

Was this from HK?

For example I know I purchased the Cheap HK Camera for myself and that's worked fine, then my friends purchased the same camera and they seemed to work well also. Finally for christmas we purchased the same thing for my son and it was DOA, so I sent it back to HK and purchased another, which also turned out to be DOA. In the end I purchased a CCD camera for him from ebay. I'll post some pics of mine in the morning, hope that will help but it sounds like you've done it all ok
