Comments on my first build?

Thanks!!!

Looks good, you gonna make it RC?
Should I? Considering this is my first plane, is it good for beginners?
Do you recommend any electronics?
My electronics shopping list right now:
  • 2212 1000kv motor
  • 40 amp ESC
  • 2s 2200mah lipo
  • 9g servo
I already have a FlySky i6 transmitter and a FlySky i6A receiver

Well, I would probably hang it up for memories sake. (I still have my first scratchbuild hanging up) But I’d recommend building the FT Simple scout, it’s very gentle, and you can build it as a 4ch or a 3ch. And it’ll work just fine with those electronics you mentioned.

I...uh, have a grudge against pre-cut kits lol I really like the idea of building a plane just out of sheets of foam, and making mistakes+learning along the way. You can be more free instead of stricktly following tutorials.

You can still build it from scratch and just use the printable free plans from here!

Yeah, I know! When I first started I didn't know about the plans so I had to keep buying kits...And being young I didn't have much money so I actually fell away from the hobby for a while, concluding that RC airplanes were only for rich people😂 And now..Well I have built over 30 planes!😁 👍 (At least...)

I am currently building another plane, under 250g, that I am going to make RC,
should I make it bank and yank or throttle elevator rudder?

That is really just personal preference, I like having a rudder, so I can throw the plane into some cool maneuvers. That DOES takes some skill though 😂 , But I still recommend keeping the rudder, so you could still fly it like a 3ch if you wanted, and it would also help you learn how to coordinate your turns.

Depends on whether or not you like how rudders look on a plane. It is the easiest way to make a plane yaw into a turn before other things complete the turn, it also stops the waggle rudderless airplanes have while flying. Friends who flew the B2 said they tended to get motion sickness on long flights.

I found that I never used rudder until I got better at flying..Also I find that flying with ailerons is much nicer than with rudder! (especially in wind!)

Is this motor, this esc, this prop, and this lipo ok for this small plane?
Thanks a lot:)
So your battery looks good, but for a sub 250g plane I would go a bit smaller on your motor and the prop is way to big! (I didn't know what size of prop to use on my motor when I started and used a WAY to big one and fried my motor😂) I can get you a list of what size motors I would ruse, but first are you doing a warbird or trainer? (warbirds are usually more twitchy and fast and trainers are slower and more forgiving)
