My first Versa Wing build

This was from templates I cut from DTFB. The next one will be better, you learn a lot going through the process the first time. I covered the top with Yellow packing tape so we will know if it is inverted or not. We are going to fly with a power pod to start. I have an Emax 2812, so it should have some zip to it.

Also I have FPV equipment that I am just working out the wire harness set up.

Looks great! Nice looking build. I like your idea of flying it with a tractor setup while sorting out the fpv gear. Just a quick question: you have a prop pictured in the second photo that makes it seem tiny compared to the other components. Is that the prop you'll be using? What size is it and what battery will you use?

HA that's great. No I just happen to leave a prop from my Blade QX 3D on the desk. I have few props and I'm not sure till I get my watt meter on there to see what I can get away with in the bigger props. I have a 1300 mAh 3S I can use. I'm going to order a few new batteries, just not sure if I want to go to 2200 mAh.

We flew today and it's still in one piece. I little too windy where we are, but still great all the same.

Nice! Great job with a windy maiden. If you used the 1300mAh battery, you might find a larger heavier one would help with penetration, but I sometimes like flying in strong wind and coming into a spot landing with zero ground speed!

Great video editing and filming too! I take it the pilot is an experienced pilot? Great job on his part as well.

LOL on the prop as well. I just saw that response. Hah, figured it was an accidental photo bomb.

A couple of things came up. The shaft on my Emax bent. I decided that I am not much of a fan of prop savers. I was able to replace the shaft on the motor and use a collet style prop adapter.

My son's friend was over so we took him out to fly for the first time with our Apprentice, after we got him good enough to fly around the field on the first battery, we put the second battery in with a streamer attached to the Apprentice so my son could chase his buddy with the Versa Wing.
