Need advice mounting a motor

Hi,

I've got a tricopter frame and I want to mount my motors on it but I have some difficulties doing that.
The problem is that I want to mount my motor on top of the motor mount plate but it seems that the best way is to do it under the motor mount plate because of the screws. I made some pictures so you can see what I mean.

I also tried to turn the motor mount plate but it's ugly if I do that. :)
So what's the best option to use other screws to mount the motor ?

It may have to be ugly. It looks like the best method for mounting is in 004.jpg. The only other option would be to get slightly longer screws that do not need the countersink. Be careful if you go that route, as if they are too long, you can damage your windings.

Yeah, I think that's the best option but I hope it will also work with the yaw.

I can't really tell from the pictures if this is possible, but:

What if you disconnect the landing gear, loosen the motor mount plates and rotate them 180 degrees.
So that in fact they'd be upside-down.
Can you then re attach the landing gear, it seems to go in sideways so it might work?

I don't think it looks ugly at all, however my question is what size props are you using. It looks like in JPG003 that the props are very close to your CF boom and props do flex when they are under stress on turns and acros. Depending on the length of the prop and how you fly it you may want to be concerned with what is called boom strike.

The props are 10*45 but you are right, if the motor is mounted under the motor mount plate then I think that the props will hit the boom.

You'll get feedback and vibration as propwash hits the boom when they are too close. Just mount them up top and you'll be happier...

Yep I like it and I also like the mounts. What size is your CF tubes for the booms. I had a hard time finds CNC metal mounts for 12 mm tubes.

They are 12mm tubes.
I have the Turnigy Talon tricopter frame.
Now I decided to work on it because of the bad weather and more spare time. :)
