Need help with Tricopter ESCs

Howdy!

I've just made an order for a whole pile of parts listed on the FliteTest tricopter build page, but I'm still a little lost on flashing the ESCs.

I'm using the recommended HK 20A units - is flashing them with the SimonK firmware absolutely necessary, or can I get away with programming them with something like this?: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14869__H_King_Air_ESC_Programming_Card.html

I will be using all the gear listed, including the KK2 board and motors.

The model will be used for photography primarily, and is my first multirotor. I've got a lot of fixed wing balsa-and-glow experience, though.

(also, is there any reason why I can't use my 6ch 72mhz radio gear? It's that, or a very basic 4 channel unit with no programming features)

Any recommendations will be a big help!

You might want to ask in the Multirotors section. Under "general RC Topics" click - Electric Aircraft. Then click electric multirotors. If you post there more peeps will see it that can help
