NEJE Diode laser success with Hobby Lobby FB

Well… first test cuts are super promising! Finally got the Neje Max4 set up and enclosed and did a little testing tonight. All kinds of possibilities with this set up. Used Dollar Tree black foam. I need to get some magnets to hep hold sown the boards.

I use two different shape magnets, a bar and round, Amazon of course. I include the magnet positions on the cut line drawing but in a different color so that after framing the overall cut I have it lightly burn the magnet lines (usually dashes) and then I can add enough mags to flatten the sheet and keep things in place.

These are thin enough that my diode housing passes over them so I can start my setup with 4 -8 mags that may get drawn over with the framing and the mag scoring but at the low power and high speed it hasn't hurt anything.

Hi there, I happen to have bought the exact same laser cutter/engraver as you with the same laserhead. Bought it mainly to cut FT planes. I've been testing a similar black foamboard that is found here in Belgium (called Q-connect). However, the settings you provided don't even manage to mark the foamboard on my machine. 6000mm/min is pretty fast! Best I can do is 1000mm/min at 4 passes or 700mm/min at 3 passes for a full cut. Haven't tested out score cuts yet but wanted to get that dialed in first. I got the laserhead at about 4mm from the material. Any chance the 6000mm/min figure is a typo? 600mm/min sounds a bit more accurate in my case lol.
