New to FT

I just ordered a Mighty Mini Scout today, after spending several days watching videos of Josh building and flying various models. My RC journey began around 40 years ago. 1/2A schoolyard planes with screaming Cox engines, then slightly larger models, all the way up to a couple of .60 powered beasts, but small planes have always been my favorites. I discovered electric flight in the mid 90s and never looked back. I took a hiatus from RC for about 10 years when the FAA began putting their thumb on the scale. Then I figured out It wasn't difficult or expensive to outfit a sub-250g model, and my workshop suddenly got very busy. I converted a trio of 1980s scale rubber power FF foamies to fly on sub-micro gear, with them weighing 2-4oz RTF. I am going full retro on the Mini Scout. Power will be a Feigao 12x22mm brushless inrunner running in a GWS (remember them?) LPS-A gearbox, 2S 300 lipo, Hitec Focus III SS AM TX with an FMA Tetra RX and 5g servos. Should be a fun project.

I'm not much of a video guy, but here's a pic of the 1980s foamies I mentioned. The red MRC DH80 Puss Moth uses an E-flite Park 180, the yellow MRC Cessna 180 uses UMX gear, and the Bentom Schweizer uses a 5g 3700kV outrunner and a 1S 500mAh lipo. I got the Bentom already partially assembled in a trade around 2005, and it sat on a shelf above my workbench until mid 2025, when I decided it was now or never. All are nice, gentle flyers capable of 10-15 minute flights.
