It appears that you were reading my mind as I was also thinking of doing a Mini Scout as a demonstration vehicle.

If you strike problems just let us know.

Have fun!

Very cool. I'm sure it'll be very reminiscent of the "Fokker scourge" of years past. What a cool series of aircraft the Eindeckers were.

Will do. Seems to be a great community full of really helpful folks. I love it here already.

So, went to the local hobby shop yesterday. They were out of the simple scout speed build kits, so I just went ahead and bought a bunch of foam. Going to build a sparrow as achuck glider for my daughter for some practice, and then give the simple scout a shot. Picked up some laser cut firewalls as well, but they were out of control horns as well as the 1/16" ply suggested in the plans. Anybody got ideas for alternative materials?
Also, what size wire should I use for the push rods and landing gear?

Easy firewalls can be done by dual layering a gift card and gluing it together.
After the glue sets layout the holes and outside dimensions to any configuration you want. Very light, strong and bonds good with several different glues. Easy to cut using scissors or a razor blade.

Makes good hinges and horns.
Battery strap reinforcements.
Wing attachment rod reinforcements. Bulkheads.
Battery trays.

Old props make good horns too.
