New twin bomber

Need to re-glue the engine pods after that landing.
Will remove the paper and glue foam to foam.
So happy it flew the whole flight.

I repaired the motor pods. But the wing is showing it's age.

I'm going to fly this weekend before retiring this bird.

I want to build a P38 style FPV bird but will also build my Dad a "Snow Bomber."

Ok I need suggestions.
The motor pods are the weak link here in this design.

Sunday I lost another one.
Maybe reshape them to cover more wing surface and increase strength?

Hate to give up on this silly plane.

Yes, run the nacelles all the way to the rear edge of the wing. This will give you more of a triangulated mount and should spread the load out enough to keep the motors on the wing, where they belong. Just form them into a streamlined shape so they don't increase your drag.

I'll give it a shot and see what happen.

The only reason I went with the high mounting point is I can land the plane in pretty deep snow and either taxi back in or even attempt take off.

Figure if I can keep it flying all winter the plane/idea can be deemed successful.

I figured the clearance was an issue for you. Normally, nacelles are centered on the wing so you have both the upper and lower surface to provide a larger and more stable mounting surface. In your case, since ground clearance is an issue, check out some seaplane nacelles for shape inspiration as they are usually mounted higher on the wing.

Something maybe like this is what I was thinking...

Yes this is what I was aiming for but want to lean on the surface area.

CL-415.

I had tried some 8x4 props but the 1000 KVM motors were not happy. I was running between 75-100% all the time.
9x5's seems to do better and I have some 10x7 but those are to big.

4 months later...? How's it going?

I think you should add some graphics in the 'cockpit' to make the FPV view more interesting. Even black and white dials or some kind of representative interior would be cool.

I retired the plane after I kept having issue with the motor mounts.

I don't have to look at snow for another 4-5 months so I'll enjoy some summer planes for now.

But come winter I am thinking I'll make a new version.

Yea? You should under-camber the wings like FT did on the Spitfire. That should help with your tip-stalls. Also, your current setup would work well if you had a longer engine canard like mentioned earlier in the thread. Kinda triangle it into the wing so that it's not such an aggressive moment about the glue joint and would give you WAY more surface area to glue as well.

I retired the air frame and that wing was more or less done by then.

The motors and kit are on BOOMER right now.

I had removed the paper from the wing but all the cuts had started to all apart.

But that wing saw a lot of action.

Well we have a stretched version on the YC-14 in the works.

Just have not had time to finish it off but we will ;)

FPV, 2 remotes and yes bombs.

They will happen. I'm still recovering from my race weekend.
Heck I only flew a micro test plane project on Sunday.

Busy getting things off the honey do list ;)
