New with gas planes! What do I need to know?

Hey! I just received two nitro balsa planes. I am completely oblivious with how to set them up. I have been making/ flying foam board and 3d printed planes for the past four years but have been barred from gas because of the price. Any suggestions about what to get/do to make the most of them.

Goes like a scalded cat until it gets quiet? Castor oil sucks and melts some paint and glue? Can't see methanol flames in daylight?

Probably not helping but it's one of those days again
