Hello! I recently bought an in box little tiger 15 nitro ARF rc plane, and had some questions about it. Mainly what epoxy I should use for assembly, and how to rig up an engine test stand. I will probably have more questions on it soon since it is my first ARF and "first" nitro plane. Thanks!

If the servos are their only the receiver needs to be changed, only caveat is if they are the older Futaba servos in it. Futaba had positive on one of the outer pins versus the new ones with positive in the center, which can be changed to center pin configuration and good to go..

Hmm... I might do that then!! (they're not futaba's, but they are also very old, and have a different pin config than new servos)

Any epoxy will work if that is what is needed, super glue can also be used, for my taste SG is a little too brittle but works.

If the kit came with a metal engine mount use some wood and build a test stand, or wait until the plane is completed and finish up the engine tuning then..

When you do your engine run-in, make sure you keep it running on the rich side. That way, your engine will last for a long time.

The engine calls for 10-15% nitromthane in the fuel, and to use caster oil. I have 20% nitro fuel, should I mix in more caster oil than with the 15%? Or should I use synthetic 2 stroke oil instead?

Magnums are good motors!

I miss the smell of burned glow fuel. Fortunately a few guys at my club still run it. I have ZERO interest in doing it myself 😂

the mention of glow fuel brought back 60 year old memories

I miss it... not the complexity, cost and annoyance, but because it reminds me of when RC and life in general was simpler 🙁

The flying day is winding down, everybody breaks out the Windex or whiz-bang homemade cleaning solution they made up and start disassembling and wiping down their birds, discussing the day's events and where we're going for dinner tonight... it was more of a ritual. Now most of my planes don't even need disassembly, I just toss them in the truck yell SEEYA and go home.

There was such an incredible selection of planes available 20+ years ago too. What I'd give to have today's money with a 1995 Tower Hobbies catalog....

Oh well. Some things are better, but we've lost so much 🥺

It's a magnum gp15
Gas tank should be level with the carb fuel lines hooked up, fill tank. Leave glow plug battery off place thumb over venturi turn prop by hand until you see fuel reach the carb. Needles set at roughly 11/2 to 2 turns attach glow plug starter should pop off. If not check glow plug by pulling it out and attaching glow plug starter if it does not glow cherry red need a new one. Are you starting by hand or using electric starter?

I have only tried to start it by hand now, because I fell that my starter will be to violent. I bought some caster oil as per the manual, but I'm not sure how much I should put in the tank with the fuel.
