If you are looking for something different to build and fly, try an autogyro.

Over at RC Groups, there is a section dealing with these and how to build them including the plans. Since I had motors, esc's, lipos, foam for fuse, ordered from Midwest the thin foam and carbon rods needed to make the blades. Total cost for building the flapping blades for one was $11.67
After 2 blade builds, got to figure out how to fly the beast and survive. The third set was this video. It again needed a new set of blades to set it up and back running. No motor needed for turning blades, forward motion is required to turn blades. When you lift off, necessary to counteract roll of fuse.
