Beefed up my landing gear after knocking it off twice now. Glued a 'top' over the wire where it inserts into wing. Also added a tail wheel cause the noise skid makes is kind of irritating. Didn't have any problem with directional control with skid though. Rudder has been very effective. Added a couple of decals on bottom of wing to help visual orientation too. Enjoying flying this one!

Looks good. Can I have some more detailed pics please... If it is not a big problem.

Thanks

not sure these will help much. I just sandwiched the wire between two small pieces of foam board. Also added a 'square' of foam on top of the wire where it is inserted into the wing. time will tell

Seams like I have a problem.
The plane is almost done, it only needs the servo linkage to be done. I tried to mount everything and tried it's balance. I can not balance it in the point indicated by flite test. It seams to be tail heavy.
It has a 2217 outrunner, a 64mm spinner, gemfan 9x4.7 prop, himodel 45A esc, zippy 2200 3s and SG90 servos all around.

Some advices???

how far forward is the battery secured? I am using the same 'insides' and battery and have the battery right up to the front edge of the motor mount and balances nicely.

Battery was not fixed yet, I was trying to find out where to mount it so it was mobile and was quite forward....not sticking out....

So, to be more clear. With the battery as forward as I can bring it., without sticking out, I get the cg of the plane at about 5cm from the leading edge. Plane upside down, the balance point is at the first fold from leading edge of the wing's airfoil...

that sounds perfect and where mine is balanced

Waw, than is OK. In the build movie they say it has to balance in front of the landing gear downrod.
Did you fly it balanced like this?

yes. not an exact science. If it doesn't fly the way you want it to, then adjust from there based on your flight preferences.

That's how it stands right now.
Techicaly it is ready to fly. Only thing to do is to fix the hatch with the skewer.
Still want to make the wings removable.
I just don't have the definitive ideea how to do it, or the guts tu start hacking it....

Finally got the time and guts to make the removable wing mod.
I got inspired by this movie:
Marked and cut the lines and removed the wings. Got the chance to seal the exposed edges of the foam board with packaging tape. Mounted everything back together and fixed the hatch thing to the wings with electrical tape. Removed the wing together with the hatch, marked the hatch position relative to the wing. And hot glued e verithing together.
You can see how it looks with wings reinstalled.
The Ender 3 is printing right now some pieces needed to reinforce the back mounting point of the wing's and to align them like it shows in the movie.

What do you think?

So it is finished.
We will be allowed to go out of the lock down in 15th of May so the maiden have to wait.
Till then I decided to ensure the imortalization of the "Flite test" of this bird.
Sorted a sq11 camera for it. You can see in the pictures what I came up with for mounting it using my 3d printer and some "velcro zip ties"
For the other perspective just ordered a baseball cap with action camera mount. Just have to wait for the delivery....
Enjoy
Any comments, tips are welcome.

It's not paint, it's colored packing tape which I layed down on the cutout pieces before folding and ansamling.
The canopy is made out of plastic sheet I found laing around in the house (some blister packaging) I cut out the canopy shape, double sided tape it in place and added details with electric tape.
Thanks for the appreciation, looking forward to see yours.
