Parkzone F4U Corsair RTF

been only a short time since getting my F4U after much thought debate and talk on the forum about it being a good 1st and a half plane (look into my post about a good trainer under flight school) but i feel like i can post a decently well thought and educated review on this bird.

The box:
first off lets start with WOW! she looks amazing! even if its EPP and such, it looks nice out of the box. i was very impressed! with a stunning 44" wingspan fully painted, mostly assembled and easily finished plane i was stunned coming home with it sitting in my backseat. and boy does she look real in the sky too! after 10 minutes of easy and hobby shop helped assembly, (figured it couldn't hurt as I'm beginning... lol) it was rtf in every way. CG was perfect (so so so slightly nose heavy) and nothing had to dry or set and wait. RTFs come with the DX5E spectrum Tx (make your own decisions on the Tx i love mine for my first real Tx) battery and (my ONLY real complaint) a car charger. i would have liked a home charger or one with the option of it. as well as optional landing gear or landing skids for belly landing. i opted for skids. i also put some packing tape on the LE to prevent dings. does nicely.

The maiden:

not too proud here... i flew the girl up and found that she was docile, tracks nice, and handles crashes well too. i shook limbs with a large tree, shattered the cowl and loosed the motor mount. but NOTHING else was broken (besides obviously the prop) so i glued the mount, swapped the prop for the optional 3 bladed scale prop, and met Earthsciteach for round 2!

the other almost maiden (first successful flight):

this time we had a more open area to fly and i had a lot of extra (confidence or pressure you decide lol) flying in front of another modeler for the first time. i got her up, and flew her round, and didn't crash haha :) she flew more like a high wing trainer (or at least better than the one i flew a couple of unsuccessful times) than a low wing warbird. i had no issues with it. had to max out my down ele trim on the next flight but thats an east fix. i found her to have a somewhat scale roll but a good rate, and it handled well. landings where good came in at 1/3 stick, dropped power at 5 feet, and glided her right in with no issues. next time i flew her i ran her thru a loop held 2/3 stick the whole time and she lost almost no speed, and exited almost exactly where she entered.

overall:

I LOVE THIS PLANE

no other way around it. its smooth docile and easy to fly. i would rate her beginner to experienced-beginner but i really believe an expert could have a lot of fun too!

Thanks for the awesome review! I think the design of the corsair's gull wing makes it a nice stable flier, the root of the wing heading down below the bottom of the fuse keeps the CG low. I with mine (art tech brand) that I may need to play with mixing some down elevator with the throttle as it tends to climb at WOT.

Great plane, you'll have a lot of fun with it!

i think the low wings are contradictory to the low cg... that raises the fuselage higher above the wings, and technically raises the weight higher too. so I'm not sure what makes these birds so nice to fly!

i love the Corsair, it was my 2nd plane after the Micro P-51 from Parkzone.
Guess what its so easy to fly it compared to a micro :)

you can get so much more out of this plane, i pimped it up with
led ligths
new motor mount with stronger NTM motor
and of course a drop Bomb :black_eyed:

i recently modified the bomb drop to drop my action figure Tarantino with the parachute.
watch the vid, makes tons of fun.

More I fly this plane, the more I push it aerobaticly. The more I push it the more I fall in love with it. Hard hit on takeoff, broke landing gear off the wings, picked it up and threw it and she screamed! Love this girl sooo so much! Tough fast and controls like a dream!

Also, the gear is a 2 minute epoxy job, it will take longer for the gear to dry then fix it. But I think it's gonna get the belly skids back, it's faster that way haha

Can't wait to see that on-board video! But, I can't find my camera.

I know you handed it to me. I think I dropped it in my pocket. But when I got home, it wasn't there! I hope I didn't pull stuff out of my pocket and drop it on the ground. Garrrggghhh!!!!!

It is either in the car, which I did look through (not enough light in my garage). Or it is laying beside where I was parked. It will turn up.

hopefully in the car (unless its waterproof, but still hopefully in the car) I'm stoked to see the vid once you do find it! that near miss was amazing and I'm positive the camera had to have seen it. and the crashed takeoff attempt should be funny to see. a little gorilla glue should be all i need to fix her up good as new. but i think I'm gonna leave the gear off, its faster that way

i can't think of anywhere else it may have gotten to, i figure you already checked the flight box, and i wouldn't know where else it could be... sorry bro..
