Hello! This thread is devoted to crashes! Post your crash videos here, and tell us about what went wrong, and what the damage was like. We all crash, it's unavoidable in this hobby. But lets all be honest, it is funny to watch crashes!
I just posted my most epic quad crash video so far in another thread. I want to see if people can count how many times it rolled before I post the damage report though. If you don't mind a cross post link here the thread is http://forum.flitetest.com/showthread.php?30533-Let-tha-Quadies-Hit-Tha-Floh If this is a bad practice and it's not Ok pm me and I'll remove the link and just dump the video in here.
Here Ya Go!
This is a plane I built about 3 years ago modeled after a cub and I still fly it from time to time. I have lost count of the crashes but I glue it back together and off he goes! This crash was me just tottaly screwing around and thought I'd do a "fast" pass! Enjoy!
Also sorry everyone that I wasn't able to post any of my (many) crashes to start of this thread. I have lots of crash videos but I delete them after while to free up space on camera.
Hey you are doin pretty good there. Those were more like short landings then crashes. I think if you raise your roll expo a few points your turns will be more smooth and less corrections needed. Keep up the good work. I have been watching your build videos. You have some good shop habits and your build methods are strong too.
This was the maiden mashup as seen with keychain cam taped to the bill of my hat and a 25mw FPV cam being recorded on the monitor. It was a disaster, throws set up wrong, out of balance and outta control.
Ya like how i set up the crash with an epic stall? Knocked the motor mount loose, broke the landing gear and prop. A little hot glue and tape and it was ready for round 2.
yeah the links don't work but thanks johnnyreb for giving a good description. Even without the videos I can picture what the crash was like. Thanks for sharing!
Probably the most epic crash I will ever experience
After flying my Great Planes Venus 2 (A older F3A aerobatic plane with a for about 3 minutes, it experienced an unexpected loss of control and spiraled into the ground full throttle. After trying all controls and realizing that it was not gonna end well, we just stood and watched it go in.
Although it crashed about 200 feet from where we were standing, it was still clear that it was a brutal crash. It went in diagonally hitting the nose then wing going about 60mph. We heard the thump when it hit the ground then saw balsa wood confetti. After walking out to the crash site, we found that parts were spread out over a 50 ft line starting from where it hit the ground to where the landing gear and other various parts ended up.
We are not sure what caused the loss of control but we are guessing that it was a loose connection in the inline power switch going from the receiver batt to the receiver.
