Prop/battery/motor selection for FT mustang

Hey yall, newbie here. I’m in the middle of my first foamboard plane. It’s technically a FT Mustang but it has been modified for a higher top speed. I’m designing it as the “galloping ghost” jimmy leeward’s unlimited class racer at the Reno air races. Essentially the plane has clipped wings, chopped the scoop off the bottom of the fuselage, and lowered the canopy/turtledeck. I have been helped in my first project by my friend who built a FT spitfire. My question is, for speed, what prop should I run? I’m using a 2200kv brushless motor and a 30a esc, had em lying around from other projects. I would like to run 4s if possible. Any ideas and advice would be appreciated before I try to maiden this thing.
Thanks in advance!

Do you want to build a rocket? The KV 2200 uses a 6x4 propeller optimally. For this model, it is better to buy an engine h KV 1000-1400 + 3S battery.Engine with KV2200 and 4S battery, leave the flying wing for the model.

Ok, that setup won’t really get you much speed…. Maybe try a 3536 1800kv motor with an 80a esc. 7x6 prop for maiden flight, then 7x8 for speed runs. 4s too.👍. This setup has gotten planes into the 120mph range.

Also. My friend with the spitfire is running 4s with a pretty hot motor and has achieved 100+ mph. So we're curious to see if the p51 can do any better and I'm personally curious to see how much aerodynamics make a difference in top speed

Initial test flying went pretty well, broke a motor mount, fried an esc and stalled on landing after about 6 test flights. I'm still working out some of the bugs but she's shaping up to be a pretty nice flying airplane. Moved from a plywood motor mount to a 3d printed one and built a way sturdier power pod. I was apparently stressing the holes where the skewer that keeps the power pod in place live. So I went ahead and glued washers into all of them and haven't had an issue since. Scared to see how fast she flies but I've stuck to flying on 3s so far. I'll try to upload some pics later, she's a lot prettier now and I'm getting a custom decal set printed by a local sign shop, so she'll look just like the real 'ghost.

Cool! Sounds like it was a nice flier!
