Help! Prop question

I'm Scratch building an FT Mini Cruiser. I have several 1806 motors from a no longer used drone but they are 1700kv. The reco'ed min motor in the plans is an 1806 2200 kv motor using 6x3 props (with 2s). Do you think I could use the 1700kv motors with 6x4 props? I can't go up in diameter because the props would interfere with the fuselage. All up weight would be about 320g (11.3oz)

If you don't have a wattmeter, buy one! I can easily determine which screw is optimal for the motor by looking at the current on the wattmeter. You can safely put 6x4 on it: there will be less thrust than with the recommended one.

Hey! So do you have the model of the motor for us?

But then you end up having to buy more props until you find one that works...

Over the past 15 years, I have accumulated under 50 pieces of props in sizes : 6x4, 7x4, 8x4,8x6, 9050,1050. More than half of them are redheads from Aliexpress. I rarely break props on flights. When I was learning to fly, the props were worth their weight in gold. After buying a wattmeter, I did not have a single burnt-out engine. There are only burnt-out electric motors that I repair for my friends.

You should be able to. Since the 1700Kv motor can spin the prop as fast, a higher pitch prop by an inch will be around the same load as the 6X3 spun by the 2200kv motor. You may see a higher relative current draw though and slightly worse low speed thrust. ie shorter flight times on the same capacity.

You could also just run it on 3s. (if everything can handle it)
