It has reflex with a semi-symmetrical airfoil and the elevons are going to give it more reflex. I plan on trying to use mostly foamboard and 3d printed stuff with maybe some wood and metal for around the engine. I have seen people use that foil tape for heat protection pretty successfully + its going to have constant airflow for the whole time its running apart from launch.

Been looking into thrust augmenters and the idea of injecting fuel into them to create more thrust. AI says that it can increase thrust by up to 60% and I think that it would help get a heavy plane off the ground and provide a bit of throttle control by pretty much giving it an afterburner. Gotta get the Ercoup finished up and my brother and I are going to dive full force into this. He leaves for basic training in 3 weeks so we want to do one final project before he goes.

You might want to look at wrapping it in fiber glass or something similar. The forces a jet powered machine can generate are at a whole different level to most foam airplanes and foam board will burn very quickly if it does ignite. As far as 3D printed parts, those need to stay very far from the engine unless they're made in a high temp filament since plastics like PLA soften very easily

Pulse jets are tricky things to get to work and need to have exactly the right proportions to "pulse" effectively.
Unless you buy a one that is proven to work you could be in for a lot of trial and error testing before it gets anywhere near flying.
Then of course there is the noise issue.

Yeah the plan right now is to use a 3d model of a design I found on the pulsejets.com website and have the pieces cut by sendcutsend or something similar then bend and weld them myself. I will definitely not be designing my own at least for now. Then I guess I would build it and make sure it worked well before putting it on a plane. This project is semi on hold rn though because my brother just left for military stuff and wont be back until November and I had intended to do this with him but we ran out of time. I'll be sure to update this whenever I make progress and would love to hear more advice or comments on the project. I still very much intend to make this happen it might just be a little while :)
