hey guys I'm looking at this motor to substitute for the f power motor.

Racerstar Racing Edition 2205 BR2205 2300KV 2-4S Brushless Motor Red for 220 250 RC Drone FPV Racing

but its ment for quads.

it has a m5 shalf.

what do I need to convert this to a proper rc plane that will accept a prop adaptor.

or is this a bad idea?

thanks

You can't easily but there are plenty of props that fit the 5mm shaft and use a nylock nut.
Works for me!

The only bad thing about quad motors is the mounting screws come in from the back side so mounting to firewalls can be a pain. You have to use the correct screw length other wise the screws get into the windings. Unless you can find an X mount for it.

Hi,

I got a big pack of 2204 / 2300 quad motors from China, they work great for me on 200-400g planes. On 2S they are "nice and sensible" trainer kind of power, on 3S they are more than enough for my meagre pilot skills. I also use quad props (little 4.5" 3 blade things), I noticed those aren't as good as the similar sized real airscrew, but cheap cheap cheap!
