Hi, I recently got a p-51 that runs on a 8.4v 600mah ni-mh battery. i am having trouble finding an affordable charger and new batteries of that voltage. Is there a way i can run Lipo batteries and if so what do i have to do to convert it i.e. do i need a new speed controller or motor? On a side note if anyone has any 8.4v ni-mh batts or a charger they want to get rid of lets make a deal! :) This could be a good show topic flitetest im sure there are other people that have had this same problem

A would recommend a 2 cell lipo 800-1000 mAh.
The battery will go as low as 6 volts without damage and it is a normal cut off for NiMh controllers to save power for the rx.
You will also "feel" when the power goes down - time to land and disconnect the battery. Don´t run lipo batteries totally flat like you can do with nimh.

But if you fly a lot you will be better with a http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._6_50W_6A_Balancer_Charger_w_accessories.html
The smart charger will also charge your nimh and "all other".

You might need to replace the connector on your speed controller to something like http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9572

If you are getting a charger, go with the TURNIGY ACCUCELL 6.....NOT......the Hobbyking ecocell 6. They are not the same. I have two Turnigy Accucell 6's, most everyone I know has at least one, they work awesome and will charge any battery you can find. I have heard horrible things about the hobbyking version.
