Duane and his family drove in all the way from Iowa and stopped by Flite Test on their way to NEF 2015 (North East Ohio Flying Festival) in Akron, Ohio.

Duane's whole family joins in on the fun when flying R/C airplanes.

Noah (age 8) and Griffin (age 5) both started flying at the age of 3!

Noah is flying 3D with his Vengeance EPP airplane from WM Park Flyers.

Griffin is flying the Magnum Reloaded, a durable, easy to fly EPP 3-channel airplane.

Duane and his family have some rules in place to ensure the safety for everyone. Things like prop safety and lipo battery safety.

Having rules in place for the whole family is just another way to ensure everyone has a great time with R/C.

Prop savers are another great option for flying with beginners and kids.

Great episode.. My 6 year old daughter and I build a FT TT chuck glider. She I want to next put servos in it for her. That plane the youngest is flying looks perfect for my daughter. Looks almost indestructible.

I've seen that model as an ad in a German RC model magazine. It's sold by Miniprop and is called "Magnum Reloaded". Other available versions are an XL version with 1200mm wingspan (original: 800mm), an "Acro Magnum" that basically has just a different wing and is also available as XL or mini version with just 400mm wingspan.

Looking closer at its history it looks like the original was designed by Martin Müller - multiple times German Indoor 3D Flying Champion and inventor of the Shockflyer. He designed the original one from Depron without commercial interests and made the plans available for free on the internet.

The "Magnum Reloaded" is a modified version built from EPP boards that are available in different required thicknesses. It seems to have started somewhere around 2010. The wing is cut using a hot wire from a bigger sheet, but you can get away with a bent board too. The reloaded plans include floaties you can just put over the normal landing "gear".

There is German thread that started the whole "Magnum Reloaded" idea: http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showthread.php/223747-MAGNUM-reloaded

The plans are available in this post: http://www.rc-network.de/forum/show...NUM-reloaded?p=2000603&viewfull=1#post2000603

In the US it's sold by the WmParkFlyers: http://www.wmparkflyers.com/magnum-reloaded-blue-yellow-p-81.html

I own the magnum reloaded with both the undercambered and the symmetrical acrobatics wing. It's a blast to fly but it doesn't get half the airtime it deserves because I'm a sucker for good-looking planes even if that means they'e a handful to keep in the air. I bevelled all the fuselage edges with the hot wire cutter and some cardboard templates i made up, but it's still way too utilutarian for my tastes. Nice flyer, though, and an easy build, too if you hold off on the mods.

Mine doesn't hover like that, either with a 3s 1300 pack in the nose and a motor at the top end of the recommended power band.

They all are sold out i wonder if thats because of the flitetest plug.. I downloaded the realflight model last night and was useing it to teach my daughter to fly. I my self was having fun hovering it landing on popup tents, roofs and cars in realflight... If it flys anything like the realflight model its a blast... It did not do so well in wind above 5Mph in the sim...

Yeah, I'm expecting a few build tips soon. And by expecting I mean "please?" :)
