Race quad motors on fixed wing aircraft?

So I have a question for everyone. What esc should be used with a 2500 kv quad motor that is being put on a small fixed wing aircraft like a tiny trainer, mini mustang, or mini goblin(60%)? I see the esc on race quads and they are tiny, so just curious as to how it transfers over with fixed wing foamies. Prop wise I will probably be running a 5 inch race quad prop. Any advice would be super appreciated

I would go with a 20a to 30a ESC, should be fine. I use 13a ESC’s but the get a little warm.

@Jeremiah M - First you can't use most ESCs made for quads on plane. Most of those ESCs don't have a separate battery eliminator circuit (BEC) which puts out 5 volts for your receiver and servos (the 1806 motor runs on 8 - 16 volts dependiing on the motor). You have to read the specs really carefully to find out if the ESC has a BEC. I would recommend one of the following ESCs because they are small and light. I've got an1806 2300kv motor running on a 12amp esc but you might want to go higher - as high as 20amp. The 20amp is only a couple of bucks more and about the same size. Mine is on a motor glider that I only run the motor for about 10 seconds. I'll let other folks chip in to what size they suggest.

It depends on what size the quad motor is. They perform great. I have a FPV plane that runs on 2 2207 2100kv motors and it is a flying teddy bear. I have a flying wing that runs on just one of them that goes 80mph. I have a little 20 inch EPP glider powered by a 1407/2700kv motor that is a hoot to fly, and also a smaller version of a trainer modded up that runs off a 2207 2700kv motor on a 5x5 prop that goes like stink. My daughters trainer is powered by a 1806 motor and it is super easy and gentle to fly.

I use 18-20a ESCs on the 1806 motors, 10a ESCs on the 1407 and 1306 motors I have, and I use 30A ones on the 2207 motors.

If you want a foam board version of my wing, this is the closest to it I think.

If you want the wing I like to fly, it is fast and super tough.

In principle there is nothing stopping you using a race quad motor on almost anything.
There is a single RS2205 turning a 4 blade 5x3 prop in the tail running on an 850 mAh 5s.
