So now that my free time has become free again, this build challenge popped up at the right time. I've been wanting to get back into flying more and this gives me a reason to do so. I found my plans on Aerofred.com for the 1:5 Scale SE5A. I'm currently trying to decide how I want to build the aircraft. I'm either going to try to go the route of building the plane out of foam using the balsa plans or incorporate the FT and Experimental Airlines style of building planes to get this done. Not sure yet. Either way, it will be a challenge.

You’ve got this. Pretty sure the only sort of tricky part will be the dihedral in the wings… simple ply spar should handle that just fine.

Cut out the formers this morning. Working on a video as well. I've started a Hobby Related YouTube channel to go along with my work experiences. Going to cover the real basic stuff that we get asked all the time, like what battery fits this truck and what motor can I use in my plane. That type of stuff is what I am going to cover. No videos yet, they are coming. Here are the pictures of the formers cut out.

So work progressed on the build. I took two steps backwards to get back on the right track. I tried to get a tail section made but kept running into issues with angles and such. After chatting with Willsonman and Wilmracer they put me on the right track. First picture is where I was and then where I ended up.

I am digging as to how quickly that is moving along & I like the construction U R using. I was going to sit on the sidelines & watch, but after seeing this, the 1/4 Albatross, & the 1/4 D VIII, I might just have to join the fun.

Wow! Seriously…..that looks tremendous. I am excited to try this out on mine.
Did you achieve that curve by rolling it on the edge of the table, or did you use some form of heat and a cylindrical object?
I was thinking of using something like a rolling pin to crush and flatten the foam hoping that it might form a curve easier.
But your results look really good.

Just the simple Bixler method of bending against the edge of the table while pulling it causing it to bend.
