Wake up! Time to fly!
Nice podcast André.

I too have a bunch of hangar queens I really need to make an effort in the coming year to get out and put some air time on.

I disagree with the statement of getting below a certain weight on a quad makes it less flyable in winds. I live in upstate New York and winds are always blowing here specially fall into winter and it never stops me flying. Its all computer controlled and if set up right wind is NOT a factor. Ill fly my quads in higher winds then you will fly your planes by far.

this is done during testing specifically to tune for higher winds.

I know the BNF quad market has stepped up its game a lot but it is still viably much better to build your own IF you have decent soldering skills. Most of the prefab commercialized quads are still sub par for the quality factor of their construction. The frames are usually knock offs or not so good quality carbon that will ring like a dinner bell. Second they are built so fast a lot of bad soldering gets done and they come DOA in the box or you end up digging in them to repair / replace various things. Most of these companies have poor support as well. I know we got spoiled with incredible FT customer support but these Chinese mass production companies not so much.

If you get a good one they do great but its like the Monday / Friday car thing. Never buy a car made on hang over Monday or don't give a crap I wanna party Fridays.

I just got done doing two 3 inch builds and the prices are at or below what it cost for a bnf. Not to mention I dont use mismatched parts to clear off my storage shelves. I use real cameras not crappy AIOs like a lot of those production quads. Finally regardless of home built or production you STILL need to tune them as most pump out their stuff with stock betaflight settings that frankly are unsafe and fly like a wet noodle. Or have been simply copy-pasted settings and never get test flown.

Bottom line by the time you buy and build a quad it is still in most cases much safer and cheaper then a bnf.

This is under $200 and no sub pare parts for a 3 inch that rivals a 5 inch in both free style AND racing and can be built and flown under that 250g bench mark everyone is going for.

Finally I would feel MUCH worse then losing this then ANY DJI product hehe.
