I have been working on a Flite Test Formation Flier (three F-22s) for a few years now and finally I have had success.
This photo was taken just after the maiden flight of “VERSION 3”
I have a few minor adjustments to make to improve the performance, one of which is mixing in more “Differential Throttle” to my ailerons. This accomplishes the same thing as adding moor Rudder to your Ailerons.
I use differential throttle to steer on the ground as there are no steerable wheels.
Flight times have been about 2 minutes. My setup includes the following on each F-22:
A 70mm ducted fan
An 80 amp speed controller
A 1550 mAh 6 cell battery
The Flite Test fuselages have been replaced with ones made out of styrofoam in order to make them more durable.
I use a combination of “Elevons” on the two rear planes and Ailerons ONLY on the front aircraft. At full speed, the roll rate is slow, and I have not been able to complete a full aileron roll. Next up, I plan to see if it has the power to do a complete loop.
