RC Plane Rescue Mission

Fly yes... land no.

Sunday morning as we were wrapping up the FTAH podcast I got an email from my Dad.

He'd gone out the field to fly before me...

I am back, lost the skipper at the edge of the bushes, so I will go back after lunch with snow shoes to get it, I have a good idea, but the snow is way too deep

Team Family to the rescue.

James and I gathered up our snow shoes and headed over to the field to help.

- We'd already been snow shoeing earlier this week.

- Team Rousseau ready to search.

IMG_8308.JPG
- Off we go.

IMG_8309.JPG
- While not far out this area has seen a lot of snow. Plus it had rained the day before.

IMG_8310.JPG
- Spreading out to do a grid search.

IMG_8311.JPG
- Man down!

IMG_8312.JPG
- Oh boy this stuff is deep.

IMG_8312a.JPG
- James had stepped on his own snow shoe and could not get back up :)

IMG_8313.JPG
- Not long after that I found the Skipper.

IMG_8314.JPG
- Honestly if we'd not managed to find it I suspect after a snow fall it would have been buried.

No damage. After this experience I might add some colour to the top of mine.

Pilot and plane reunited.

It actually only took me 15 minutes to find the plane which was awesome.

That is exactly the reason I always fly with a Loc8tor tag in my planes now.
It makes it soooo much easier. Plus now that I have a system my planes
don't even bother getting lost anymore. lol

Nice recovery! I'm no fan of snow (which is why I moved where I did) but have to admit 15 minutes searching in those conditions sounds like more fun than the 1 hour I spent searching the desert in 100f heat looking for my quad after flying further from myself than I meant to or realized I had and not having enough battery to get back :D

That high mounted tail saved the day. Looks like you had a lot of fun out there.
