...I was quite surprised to see radios with half the channels of a radiomaster for DOUBLE the price for example for the price of a spectrum 6 channel radio...
All of todays Tx's will fly you plane equally well. Pay more attention the the cost of the Rx. You will only need one Tx, you will end up buying many Rx's
I can remember when Spectrum was the new kid & was far cheaper than more established brands like Futaba & Airtronics. Futaba was once king of the hill so to speak. Now, few even remember them. I suspect one day nobody will remember Spectrum, todays king of the hill.
...Since I have both Spektrum DX9 and Radiomaster TX16s ergonomics of the DX9 to me are much better...
I think it has more to do with what you are used to and are more familiar with.
I've never owned a Spectrum, all of my buddies have them. The are constantly asking me how to do something. I can tell them what to mix but they have to program it. For me, the Spectrum menu is very difficult & totally backward. Simply because I'm not familiar with it.
Give me a Raidomaster or Jumper (anything running Edge Tx) any day of the week.
I will grant that today, if you show up at a typical rc field, it will be much easier to get help with a Spectrum than any other brand. But only because it is the one most are familiar with.
