RC RADIO SCAM ?

There is a difference in people some want a radio just plug in and fly such as Spektrum and outstanding customer service. Some want to spend time trying to figure out a radio programing and making changes and not much customer support.

Since I have both Spektrum DX9 and Radiomaster TX16s ergonomics of the DX9 to me are much better I have made some changes to my TX16s to help in this problem. Both radios will do more then I will ever need just easier to do with the Spektrum biggest advantage to the TX16s is the multi module in my opinion.
I don’t think I’ll ever need a multi module I’m just starting out and will build every airplane I own so I can just build it around one radio system if I want to but I think I will never need more then say 12 channels so that makes the decision a bit more difficult.

At this point the question is just "how much range do I actually need" And I never will plan on flying more then say 3 km out.

I've never gone 3km out, but I do fly FPV in, around, and behind trees so having gear that can go long range and at 900mhz rather than 2.4khz can help with the penetration of harsher environments.

I play with some complex setups. It's in my nature to explore tech boundries but I also have super simple setups too.

Oh I think jumper is good but there is something to a company that's been there a while.....
True radiomaster has better quality then jumper I would say.....but the t20 in specific is a very unique radio that u cant really compare with any radiomaster controller in terms of the shape.

That's a tiny radio.

Recently as I've gotten into the hobby of rc airplanes I have seen the steep price difference between different brands of rc radios. Even radios made by the same company have steep price difference as someone who is used to fpv radio brands....radio brands like radiomaster, tbs and jumper all have radios that support 10 + channels no matter which one u pick so when I got into rc planes I was quite surprised to see radios with half the channels of a radiomaster for DOUBLE the price for example for the price of a spectrum 6 channel radio View attachment 251993
u can get a radiomaster tx16s for cheaper View attachment 251994
I honestly have no clue why would one go for a spectrum 6 channel radio when u can go for a tx 16s with a 4 in 1 module and 16 CHANNELS.
True never got the people who would pay 350 dollars for a 14 channel spektrum when u can pay 100 or even 200 dollars less then that and get a radiomaster I mean I get it if ur say a person with a super expensive airplane I mean airplanes that cost 2-10k dollars or even more then that it def makes sense getting spending a bit more on ur radio and get something like a jeti radio or sm if I were to get a radio other then a radiomaster I would 100 percent get a jeti duplex ds 12 View attachment 251997
Or a frsky tandem x20 View attachment 251998
Well, I’m pretty sure that’s Spektrum’s “CHEAP” radio!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. And I’ll answer your question, it’s because it is like owning a Ferrari 458, versus a Ford Mustang….

I know but compared to something like a pocket is a far better radio for me. U get full sized gimbals, 1 W express lrs and a nice compact form factor so it ticks all the boxes for me.

All of todays Tx's will fly you plane equally well. Pay more attention the the cost of the Rx. You will only need one Tx, you will end up buying many Rx's

I can remember when Spectrum was the new kid & was far cheaper than more established brands like Futaba & Airtronics. Futaba was once king of the hill so to speak. Now, few even remember them. I suspect one day nobody will remember Spectrum, todays king of the hill.

I think it has more to do with what you are used to and are more familiar with.

I've never owned a Spectrum, all of my buddies have them. The are constantly asking me how to do something. I can tell them what to mix but they have to program it. For me, the Spectrum menu is very difficult & totally backward. Simply because I'm not familiar with it.
Give me a Raidomaster or Jumper (anything running Edge Tx) any day of the week.

I will grant that today, if you show up at a typical rc field, it will be much easier to get help with a Spectrum than any other brand. But only because it is the one most are familiar with.

Yes true did some research on my end and I realized most of the people in my flying field will be flying with either a jeti duplex radio (the dudes with super big turbine airplanes) and the rest will be flying frsky or spektrum so thats something I really need to consider.

I have seen a few people with SUPER deep pockets flying around their planes with a Spektrum iX20 and a JETI DUPLEX DC-24G2.

If radiomaster is so good why have I never seen anyone in my field use it ? Everyone uses a spektrum or frsky radio....
