Thanks. Good idea. Version 2 will have that mod! It was all a learning experience. With the black paper on the outside it is pretty dark in there, though not sure what it will be like in bright sunshine (if we ever get any again!

well, you still have light from the screen reflecting off the inside (even in a pitch black room), so that is were the dark inside will help.
Why didn't I think of that? So much easier.
As much as possible I've stuck more black paper on. Two layers on top. And also, where possible blacked other places , where I can reach, with black marker pen. As I say, it was a prototype! Next time, black inside before glueing up.

So all I did for my setup was buy an OTG receiver for my phone, ($20 canadian), cheap pair of VR goggles to put the phone in($10) , and downloaded the app "GoFPV" for free and I was good to go, essentially the same setup as what you did only cheaper I think and I didn't have to make anything, plus it records my flights as well
A few years back I experimented with a video rx and my phone, and Google Cardboard, which is a cheap VR thing. It was difficult as I had to power the rx seperately and have software that would allow it to be displayed on my phone. Wrecked a phone trying that.

Exactly my setup, works great
Our posts crossed! Basically, because I already had that little monitor and nothing to do, I figured I'd experiment with it! £1 for fresnel magnifier.
I've still got my old Google cardboard goggles and if I'd seen that little phone compatible rx first I may we have gone down that route too! They weren't around a few years ago when I tried to do it with my phone. TX and RX have got so much smaller and cheaper now.
