Relationship between motor and ESC

Hi!

I don't understand well the relationship between the motor and ESC.
What I would like to know is what happens if the motor is stronger than ESC (max motor current is bigger than the ESC's).
Or the other way that the ESC is stronger than the motor (max ESC's current is bigger than the motor's).

Thanks in advance,

Larger motor amp draw then ESC can handle equals bad things. Smaller motor and larger ESC is fine. Example, If your motor draws 10 amps max, go with a 15 amp or better ESC. You always want to leave yourself room for safety.

SMOKE happens!

This is good! ESC should be "bigger" than motor requires.
