Solved RTC Battery Low on RadioMaster Pocket radio

Hmmm. That was fast. Only had my pocket a little over a year, and that was after having RTC issues with my original one, but not for battery reasons. RadioMaster swapped the whole radio out.

So much to my surprise, I started getting a RTC Battery Low warning at powerup recently. Checked the voltage in SYS, Hardware, RTC Batt. it was .7V (far <3V) and the time and date would not stick between poweroffs. Dove in to the case by removing the two big rubber bumpers from the back and the four silver screws in the corners hidden by the bumpers. Had a standard CR2032 lithium battery on hand, but found the battery is a CR1220. Nobody local had them, so ordered a few online. Swapped it out, reversed disassembly, and reset my clock. RTC Batt now reads 3.4 as it should with no more startup error.

That was quick. I've had the TX16S since they were released, and the RTC batt is still good. I put a different case on it and swapped a couple switches a while back, and when I saw the batt I bought a pack just in case. Also had to order them.

yeah I was shocked when it was dead. Hopefully just a bad cell. I have other devices close to 30 years old which I've never had to replace the button in.
