Safety Side cutters

This is a old trick for side cutters/wire cutters that may prevent some body loosing a eye or something.
Clean out you cutters with some kind of solvent to remove any oil and fill it with RTV silicone, I like black. I also put a rubber band around the handles so they can't open, let them set for a couple of days so the silicone can set, once set use a razor blade to cut the silicone down the middle. Now when you cut short end off of say push rods they wont shoot across the room. sorry for the crappy pictures.

Another neat trick is to cut the wire inside a shopping bag.

I usually just hold my hand around the small end I am cutting off.

First, I make sure that nobody is around, then I look for a target.
