FAQ

You don't have the plane/plans I'm looking for, will you make them for me?
If you've wanted to build plane X scaled to Y but aren't sure of the modifications that would be required then add a comment and let me know what you want to build, I'll do my best to make plans for you.

Did you create these plans?
I don't take credit for the following plans, FT and others have created them originally. I've just re-sized, adjusted tabs, A/B folds, and made other small adjustments to make them scale properly.

The electronics you recommend don't match what I've seen others use, what gives?
The suggested electronics are just my opinion, other options will work. I have tested the exact or very similar set up to what I've suggested but if you have questions about a different set up or how a plane will perform with a different set up please post a comment.

Do I need to know anything special before using these plans?
The plans are not perfect and some slight tweaks may be needed. If you have to alter any plans to make them work let me know and I'll adjust accordingly. I have built nearly every one of these planes so far and they all work great!

If I want to use one of the really fast electronic sets up, do I need to modify my build at all?
Make sure you add a CF or aluminum spar with anything more than the Good electronics.

Do I have to use DTFB with these plans?
No, but these plans are designed around the dimensions of DTFB so you might have to make other modifications to get everything to fit right.

You don't seem to offer tiled plans, how do I print full sized plans?
1. Open the PDF you want to print using Adobe Reader X.
2. Click the Print icon.
3. In the Print dialog box, click Poster.
4. Set Tile Scale to 100%.
5. Set Overlap to 0.005in.
6. Click Print.

How do you go about scaling plans? I'm looking to build an 80% Viggen...you wouldn't happen to have one of those, would you? ;)

It depends on what needs to be done but generally:

-Resize to the desired percent
-Modify all A/B cuts to match foam depth
-Adjust tab depth
-Move tab locations
-Test

So far I've built all the plans I have linked to make sure they are pretty close. They usually need a few extra tweaks when you build but they should be 99%.

I can give the Viggen a go but I won't be able to test build it. So you're welcome to use my plans but please let me know if you had to modify anything to make it work so I can make the appropriate changes.

I'll work on the Viggen and will try to get it done in the next week.

Nerdnic,
What software are you using to make the modifications?

Wow! Impressive.

Heh, thanks. It's nothing amazing. Just takes a little patience. It would be easier if I had access to the original files though for sure.

I updated all the links so they should all work again.

Simply cool!

Soooo cool. Thanks for sharing this.

BTW: what kind of KT boards are you using? 5mm or 4mm?

I've just finisehd a Duster, plan to have a 100% slinger, then 800mm spitfire. If possible a 800mm corsair shall be the next....#wishlist# :D

Dropbox is OK again, thx for the plans! I already made 3 versions of the normal spitfire, but I'd like to make a bigger one, so I can tidy up the fpv gear.

How do you adjust plans that are already in PDF format? Do you have cut and paste everything?

A smaller corsair will be tricky. The 1100mm is super tip happy unless you keep your speed up, I think the 800mm will be even worse. I'm building a 1500mm corsair now hoping it will be more stable. It's such a great looking bird, now I just need to make it handle like the FT Spitfire. :)

As far as board I just use dollar tree foam board. Is that what you're asking?

It is a great looking plane and I've see posts saying corsair is quite .... probably I shall start with a 100% corsair.

The reason I was asking is that if we just scale the plan to 80% while the foam board is changed from 5mm to 4mm will also be 80% on thickness - all those tabs and slots might not need to be changed. (I'm in China and there are many flite test fans here - well...we also have 3mm 4mm 5mm foam boards available at very low price =.=)

My friend has just made a P51 with the plan you post above and he will try it out to see how the CG change.

Again, appreciate this thread!
