School project plane!

hello!

I am a student at DB-Excel this semester and I am doing a unique project dealing with an RC plane, exept we need ideas. We are stuck on cheap and easy to build RC planes that can support FPV and fly within line of sight. We are open to ideas and we would like to have a resourse list soon. If you guys have any recomedations i would love to hear them, if you have a good idea on what you think would be a reasonable rc plane, please include a basic resourse list, like this type of foam, or this motor with this prop would be able to power a decent sized plane. Any recomentations would be greatly appreciated.

Just a stab in the dark here, but the FT Flyer is very easy to build and flies nicely in 3 channel and can be modified fairly easily to fly 4 channel. It will certainly support FPV though I haven't done any FPV projects so I have limited advice on that other than the fact that there some very affordable camera/transmitter combos and goggles available.

Sorry, new to this. Im looking to put a camera on the front of the rc plane to take photos of the ground for scanning and surveying purposes. we were thinking of making something like a RQ 11 raven but it might be more difficult than other options.

Yeah, sounds like a quad with bottom mounted, controlled camera gimble is going to be needed.

Seems more logical for this project. I mean FT has made a model airplane that can hover but again a drone is just designed for that in the first place. If the whole goal is to design an airplane i’d look at this and generally read more about VTOL.

The problem I was having with a quad is that they are loud, I would prefer to have it be a little more quiet. This is because I want to use it for a conservation use, and the loud quad will be potentially more disrupting to the wildlife, and if it gets used by the rangers to track something it will be easier to deploy and it will it could provide a live feed of whats happening on the ground to if needed. I was thinking about using a NDVI camera. Im going to look at VTOL, and I will also look at quads.

A quad is going to be much quieter than fixed wing single prop. There are factory refurbished DJI drones on ebay for under $400.00

If you decide you want a fixed wing, I personally would look at the FT Explorer.
It is the perfect Fixed wing plane for FPV and has a rear mounted pusher prop.
