LOL, yeah I know the feeling.

Have you tried the DYS XM20A ESCs yet? I am hearing they are much better than the SN20A/BL20A, and just as good if not better than the Little Bee 20A not to mention cheaper.

I have not. I just sprung another $100 on these:

I like Altitude. I have had fantastic service from Garrett these past 3-4 years. I also like the Spiders. I have the older Simon K's on my Warpquad and Twitchity mini-Tricopter and I love them. I figure I will give these a shot and report back (on my own thread :)).

Here is a quick video explaining the differences in the V2 frame, and also showing the assembly of the VTX mounting.

Very cool, really digging that vtx mounting solution you came up with. I just got my mod 1 version from Armattan yesterday. I do wish I waited a bit for the newer version, but I'll make do with what I got.

Now I'm trying to figure out what motors/esc I want to go with. I have some older rcx 2206 2250kv's laying around that I might just use in the meantime, but I'm really debating going with some high kv red bottoms, or the new dys motors. Again my biggest concern is with the batteries being able to keep up. On the other hand I'm wondering if they will unload enough in air to not be an issue, as this will be by far my lightest 5 inch build to date. Oh decisions, decisions.

Once Armattan approves my V2 frame pieces (keeping in mind the samples I have came from CNC Madness), I am going to post up a few different kits. One of which will be a V1->V2 upgrade kit which will include the revised carbon bits, and slightly taller standoffs. I am going to offer it at a discounted price, cheaper than buying the individual components, that way existing SCX-200 owners can upgrade without having to purchase a whole new frame.

Awesome, will keep an eye out for it. I did a dry fit of the frame last night, and with your new improvements, I really think you got a winner on your hands. Light, stiff, and well thought out component placement, can't wait to get it in the air. I must say I'm also really impressed with the quality of the cuts from Armattan, this is my second frame from them, and both have been spot on.

Now what am I going to do with the original frame plates? Might have to get out the dremel and hack off the unnecessary bits, grab a couple extra arms with the upgrade kit, and make an los quad out of it.

Yeah the Armattan carbon and the fit/finish of the work is super nice from my experience so far.

So if you watched the video I posted last all the way to the end, you may have seen I was also toying with a smaller 4" prop version of the SCX, dubbed the SCX-175.

Well here is the first assembled prototype of that, and the frame is based on the SCX-200 V2 architecture but with shorter arms.

Essentially I have a PDB go up in flames on my Tweaker FPV Addiction quad, so I decided to transplant the powertrain into a new frame! The Tweaker FPVA served me well and had the most flight time of all my quads but I figured it was time for a change! I'll have to check the weight of this one more time, but if I remember correctly it came out to be something around ~280g without the battery, which is about 30-40g lighter than my Tweaker was.

Running 20A Little Bees, EpicRC (T-motor) MN2204-2800kv, and HQ 4040x3 props all from the Tweaker. Since the ATAS PDB and Naze32 in the Tweaker were damaged from the flames, this quad is running a Matek PDB and a KISS FC!

When will the V2 kits be up on Armattans store for sale?
Best guesstimate 1-2 weeks from now. I have a few people testing the CNC madness version of the kit right now and it has prompted some minor changes, so I have to upload a couple revised parts and wait for re-approval.

Making some final tweaks to the V2 design. It's coming soon, but while I was playing around in Inventor Fusion 360, I decided to try out the rendering tools. Pretty cool for a CAD rendering:

This frame is sweet, it's well thought out with the V2changes. I love that vTx lockplate idea.

Do you know how long it would take to get from Armattan? I just cracked my alien today and was looking to build up another frame. You don't happen to have it from cncmadness still? Their turn around sounds quick.

Until my batch order from Armattan Productions comes in, I won't have any frames to offer personally. CNCMadness offers a quick service, but their work is better suited for small orders and prototypes. Armattan's carbon and finished product is better from my experience and that is why I stuck with them for production.

The only downside is the time, but since I invested in a batch of frames, I hope to alleviate some of those pains. However, since I just placed the order, and it could be a month before I get my batch anyways, I opened up the ordering direct from Armattan Productions so that people could get their frames hopefully around the time my batch order is done. It's hard to make everyone happy though.

Ultimately in the end, the batch order is just an experiment for me. I had to put up a lot of my own money to make it happen, so once those are gone, Armattan Productions will probably be the only source for kits and spares.
