Solved Servo Problems

Hi all, i built the ft p40 warhawk yesterday and I cannot get any of the servos to work (except elevator) when connected to my rx. All the channels on the rx send power as i’ve tested it with the elevator servo. The throttle also works just fine. I can’t see the linkages for the ailerons as they are in the wing but i’m 99% sure they’re correctly connected to the extender. Any ideas as to what might be wrong or what I should try?

swap around your connectors, and see if that working elevator works on the other ports of your receiver.

This will let you know if the issue is that somehow your RX isn't sending signal on the different ports or if you have some sort of wiring issue (or bad servos) in the plane.

if different servos work when connected to the elevator port, then you have either a configuration issue with your TX/RX or one of them is damaged.

If the elevator servo works as it gets moved around and stuff doesn't work on the elevator port, then tyou have some sort of wiring issue (or bad servos) in the plane.

If you have tested the other channels on the Rx, then the problem is with the servos or with the extender. It’s unplugged, backwards or has bad ends, bad servo, etc.

Yeah it must be with the servos or their wiring because I can’t seem to get them to work when they’re in the elevator port which I had just used. Anything else I should do now, i’m feeling kind of lost.

start carefully taking things a part and testing them one by one to pin down what part/cable/etc is at fault.

Regarding the servo plug.

Red is always positive.
The darkest color, usually black or brown, is negative.
The lightest color, usually white or yellow, is the signal wire.

If you flip a plug, it's not going to blow up, it just will not work.

Took out the rudder servo, the extension wasn’t flipped and I tested it with and without the extension one more time to no avail. Is there another explanation besides the servo just not working?

if the servo doesn't work you have one of a few things that could be the problem:
- TX not sending any signal
- RX not putting signal on the port (or not passing power)
- cabling issue between RX and servo
- bad servo

since your using a port on the RX that works for a different servo, that excludes the first 2. Which leaves a cabling issue (which you bypassed all the cables you could) and a bad servo. therefore it sounds like you have a bad servo.

Damn, is there any way I could have fried it? Before I put it in the plane it worked and I centered it.
is there any way? sure.
did you? I don't know.

do you hear any noise in the servo when you try to move it? does it move by hand ok?

There’s no noise when it’s plugged in and a little when moved by hand, it moves alright by hand.

No, I plugged it into the rx and trimmed it with the tx.
Let's recap the situation.
You tested all of the servos with the Rx, in the correct channel, prior to install & all they worked.
After the install, only the elevator worked.

Either you have a bunch of bad servo plugs that only work sometime.
OR you are reversing the servo plug at the Rx.

Yep, I assume it’s the servo plugs because they can’t fit in upside down in the receiver or extensions.
