thanks man. nice maiden. looks like you have her died in quite nice.. seems to be a very nice flying quad.

could you do me a favor next time you go flying.. would you hover for a few seconds. after reading airhawk saying he had a hard time hovering fpv.. it got me wondering what the view is like hovering through FPV.. i always see moving video but none i can remember of hovering fpv.. i practice every day with my nano qx in my room with a string heh ( its so i can just pull it to me if i crash ) anyhow.. i can say im getting very comfortable of hovering, nose in and nose out.. and now im starting to practice side to side ( so you are looking at the side of the nano when you are flying, and the nose would be facing forward.. if that makes sense) ..which is messing with my head. hah.. but ill get it under my belt.. and i hope to hell all this indoor small space practice helps when i can go out side..

Stick with it and suddenly everything makes sense. Use a variation of the same trick with planes when flying toward yourself. Like bixler says about planes flying toward you, push the stick toward the low wing to level out. In the case of a quad flying toward yourself. Push into the drift. Then practice flying toward yourself, rotate 180, fly away, 180 and back following the same line. I was out today flying LOS on my electrohub and I've gotten really comfortable going fast and aggressive or slow and steady and the same altitude (less than 5 feet up). I have to think fpv is easier but I'm glad I learned LOS first.

thanks man.

You're welcome.

Thanks.

Sure, I'll give it a shot. I rarely hover in one place when I'm out flying. I might hover around something or do some small circles if I want to stay in place, but hovering is tough, especially when you're running a tilted camera.

i can say im getting very comfortable of hovering, nose in and nose out.. and now im starting to practice side to side ( so you are looking at the side of the nano when you are flying, and the nose would be facing forward.. if that makes sense) ..which is messing with my head. hah.. but ill get it under my belt.. and i hope to hell all this indoor small space practice helps when i can go out side..

Keep it up. I think every bit of practice helps. After a while, those moves will just come naturally and you won't have to think about them.

I took off the goggles and hovered LOS to show you what it would look like. As you can see, with camera tilt like this you have to be moving forward in order to see.

i do not think iv seen your polakium quad.. is that the name of the frame, or just the nick name you gave it?

chris.

I have two Polakium builds although I have retired the hex due to breaking the heck out of it.

Adam Polak is/was a University of AZ student with a 3D printer back when 3D printing and mini-copters and Naze32s were new. His site is here.

Polakiums are a ton of fun but this little monster CodeMonkey built will weigh about 20 grams more and be carbon fiber.

And yes, I have a stack of motors and ESCs. :)

ok, thanks.. i guess things have moved from the days of 3d printing.. now it seems carbon fiber is the norm.

AZ is a good school.. plus all the cute women come here because of the weather. its quite amazing. heh.
to bad im old now.. i should of moved here sooner, like before i was broken.

thanks.. now im confused.. i have been spending all this time practicing hovering nose in, nose out, circles, etc.... seems like a useless skill to have.. i may not like fpv after all. but ill build this thing since i have parts coming and give it ago.. maybe i just have to experience it to figure this out.
also what angle is your camera at? i think i will put mine at 15 degrees or so.. or should i go 10?
