Yes, been a busy year...I noticed you have not sealed up the front yet? It looks like the CF-3 Nose Fill-In piece isn't installed?

I actually removed it. I needed access for the main battery wires, the two BEC power wires and the throttle ESC connection.

Finally got the windscreen done. No glue, all screws R functional and not just for looks. Finished all the plastic trim for the wing fairings. That plastic trim for the windscreen was a more than I anticipated. I used elastic chord form the sewing section for the simulated weather stripping. U can see that the wing slides in very well. Wasn't sure if this was going to work. I will add the additional screws once the wings R covered. The fuel system on the original Vertigo was modified with the wing tank STC and I decided to do the fuel caps in shiny chrome vs painting them red. I got the idea of using buttons from the Cub Den website. The pic is an example of a cub with the STC. The STC has the wing tank gravity feed into the original forward tank with the expansion vent tubes in the wing tank fueler caps. Paint that entry step and cover the wing and I am done.

I am about to wrap this project up and call it a day. I should have some pics tonight. In the mean time, I thought I'd share my scale like shock cord covers. This is one of the last few details left & has been stressing me out. thecubden.org has them for sale. Unfortunately, they have been out of stock for some time. So, I decided to make my own. The one criteria I wanted, was to have them go on and off without dismantling the gear. Aaaaaaagh. This is the kind of crap I keep running into that makes this build take so long. Well this is what I came up with. I used this rubberized duck cloth that I bought from Wally World. Using Foam Tac, I made slots for zip ties to slide through by folding over the ends. The ends that R on the outside closer to the ground R double folded over for a tighter seal. Then I made slits for the ties to go in & come out of. Glued some Velcro to the ends & wrapped them around my gear as depicted. Scale like enough for me.

yeah this is what is pulling me to the dark side: balsa :devilish:

Oh, my next one is going even darker than balsa. A carbon fiber tube space frame & a flat twin 4 cycle. The question is, will it be 1/3 or 1/4. I got this 240 twin for a good deal. Turns out to be too big for the 1/4 scale. Now I am contemplating making it a 1/3. Now I just need to measure the Pathfinder to see if one that size will fit in there.

A tube frame will probably fly better at 1/3 scale (y)

I think a 2.4 would be a little small for a 1/3 cub. Usually on those you want at least a 50cc gas but I have seen them fly on OS 300 twins before. 1/4 is also a little too small though if you want really ridiculous performance you could get away with it. I personally would split the difference and try like 1/3.5 scale or 30% or something in that range.

(y) Already in the process of doing it in a 1/3.5 scale. Picking up the prints for the plans today. Alex from Iflytallies is printing out some of my cockpit parts. 120" WS. Hope to keep it in the low 20's for the weight in pounds.

My biggest hang up @ a 1/3.5 scale was the main gear. I noticed that the H9 CubCrafter XCub is in 1/3.5 scale, so I ordered the upgraded version. Hope I can make it fit. I do live within a few miles from Robart. I am sure for the price of a modest home, they can custom size one for me.

@cyclone3350 what motor did U use?

The Admiral GP26 on a 10s. I've used this motor on my 110" Rascal knock off from VH. It flies it very well @ 17lbs AUW @ 1/2 throttle for lazy flying & never opened it up. I did not expect my Cub to weigh the same, so I am not sure how well it will do for Aerobatics. For a 15lb bird, it would definitely perform well.

IM BEGGING, follow through with the IC this time, I would have LOVED to see an engine on the other cub. Seems more pure, especially with all those scale details. But its still a beautiful aircraft, no hate.
