Son asked for a turtle plane, I said, EZ!

To be clear, the 4-7 year olds painted it, and it has been flown and crashed a few times....
This was a freehand build, so I don't have plans, but the body is 3D, and the foam is all without paper, except the front wings.

In order for the turtle to fly, the combined weight of electronics and foam should not exceed 75 grams. If you can design and build something in the range of 35 to 50 grams, the youngster could actually try and fly it.

The concept of level flight at 1/2 throttle(add throttle to climb or less to glide) and differential to turn is a safe way for youngsters to learn.

For instance, the bowed up portion of shell can be made by doing a flat shell, then from a center point to the rear, cut a small V from the center to the back end (say 1/4") and pull together and tape it.

It actually flies great at about 40% throttle.

Looks Great! Shouldn’t be too hard to make plans for something like that. (Not that I’m asking for some, I don’t do EZ’s 👍)

We'll see, my son wants me to scale it up, and I was always planning too. So when I do that, it'll make more sense to do plans. Also, at some point I'll probably need to scrap this turtle and build a new one. I have things I'd do differently....
