SP0NZ - Plans Index

Maybe the Master Series P-38 Lightning (really any of the master series that I did plans for). If I limit it to Flite Test, I would say probably the Tubby B-17. I had to spend a lot of hours modifying my template to be able to add the additional sheet necessary for that plan set.
You did a great job on them!

I'm new to the forum and the hobby, and am interested in building a V2 Viggen for my 2nd plane. Am I correct in my understanding that the only difference between V1 and V2 is the doubled/reinforced wing? I've searched around and didn't see the plans for the V2 viggen anywhere, even on the FTCA website. I would like the peace of mind knowing I could rebuild the wing if needed, however my intention is to initially buy the speed build kit and parts from FT to support them.
Also, the designer(s) have more knowledge and experience than me, so this is not an expression of doubt in their decision, but I would like to understand why there is no rudder on the vertical stab on this plane? I have seen some people mention making one, was it only not included in the design to keep costs down (+1 servo), or is the stab not strong enough for this control surface?
Thanks in advance, and for being a welcoming community.

That's correct. The updated wing is the only design change. You can build from the V1 plans and double the wing by following the How to Build the FT Viggen V2 // BUILD video and the FT Viggen V2 SUPPLEMENTAL article.
You can add the Park Flyer Low Wing Tricycle Gear recommended for the Viggen V2.

F-18 will not be happening. There will be no new plans for the Master Series planes. If that ever changes, I will let you know.

Yak-55 XL is on the list:
  1. Viggen V2
  2. Space Fighter
  3. Twin Otter
  4. Yak-55 XL
  5. Jenny XL
  6. Jenny
In that order unless I hear otherwise from HQ.
Very unfortunate regarding the Master Series. Thanks for the list. Eagerly anticipating #3 & 4. My son has the Flex Innovation Twin Otter and I want to see how the FT version stacks up.

Yeah, I wish they would....There are so many designs that are really cool but I will never be able to build them because I don't have that kind of money. I wonder if they could put the plans up for sale for download:unsure:

John put a ton of hard work into the designs and doesn't want them in the wild for good reason. We all know what happened a while ago when poorly created pirated copies were being made and distributed to unknowing customers. It halted the release of the plans.
Honoring the agreement between FT and JO seems more than reasonable.

Looking forward to all the plans you're working on, Dan, and the restocks of MS kits! I'm hoping they bring back some of the MS SkyFX kits.
Thanks for the update, Dan!

Want happened? What if they were too put them up for sale on FTCA? I agree that we should honor their decision as they probably know best, and we only see the outside.....

People were using the plans to make outright FT copies. Customers were buying kits that had all the copyrighted FT branding, but were missing parts, burned, etc. The foam board wasn't even Adams foam board. Caused a lot of trouble with customer service as well as monetary loss when some of them were sent replacements from FT.
There is an FT vlog that was made more than 7 years ago featuring a copied FT design. (Not FT branded) It was long before the outright FT branded knockoffs happened.
12 min. vid. The knockoff feature is in the beginning, middle and end of the vid.

Guys, sorry to beat the dead horse, but this has been discussed at length ad nauseam. This decision was made years ago and will likely not change. There are 5 Master Series designs with free plans. The odds of any other master series plans getting released are slim to none. It's been 4 years now.
