Hi all,
I'm doing some surrogate troubleshooting for the boss as he is having all kinds of issues binding the rx and tx with the RC planes he purchased for the grand kids.
The transmitters are DX4e and the receivers DSMX. I've included an image of the rx.
I have successfully bound one pair, even though the process seems very flaky and required multiple attempts cycling power to finally bind, but it seemed to stay bound, even after powering down and removing/swapping the battery. Experimenting with this pair as something of a control was frustrating as repeating a successful bind requires many attempts.
On another tx/rx pair, once powered up with the bind plug in, the rx starts flashing red/blue as it seems it should, but only for a second or so, and then flashes red and the pairing fails. Power cycling and attempting repeatedly, it eventually worked, but once power was removed from the rx on a battery swap, the bind was not retained, and we were unable to rebind.
So, a few questions...did he purchase less than reliable receivers and an upgrade would solve the issues?
Or are these receivers decent and maybe just a bad unit(s)? Seems unlikely as none of them seem to work all that well, and each has intermittent issues seemingly at random. One day one set will pair and not the other, the next day it's reversed and the 'bad' one works and the 'good' one doesn't.
Just to verify the process...
Binding plug is inserted.
Power plug is inserted into rx
Wait for lights to cycle and start alternating red/blue. (Defaulting to blinking red means fail?)
Hold train/bind button while powering the tx
Wait for lights on rx to turn blue
Release train/bind button
Remove bind plug.
Fly/crash plane.
I'm obviously rather ignorant of brands and equipment quality, so I don't know what to expect from these units. The instructions seemed rather basic and make the binding process sound as easy as 1, 2, 3. I've experimented with the distance between the tx/rx, the batteries are good in both units, but those are the only two things I've seen mentioned on these forums.
Thanks for reading this wall of text and for any help/advice!
