How did it handle?

Excellent. Ailerons were very responsive. Small rudder OK. Very short take off. Tail wheel could do with a bit more throw in windy conditions. Landings with wheels forward cured early tendancy to nose over. Will fly very fast or very slow. Wants to take off again if you hit the ground on landing.

Nice work, I love full former fuselage builds as these get rid of that "boxy' look. Quite an amazing short take off given the weight of the model, i suspect it has to do with what looks to be a lot of "angle of attack" built into the wing. Be sure to post this in RCGroups under the foamies scratch built section as there is a large following from Australia there.

Cowling

Oh.. and that cowling.. wow, that must have been a pain in the arse to do.
No it was quite simple with the former I just wrapped some light card around it, marked it out roughly. Then used it as a pattern on the aluminium flashing. Finally trimming it to suit the actual model and then installing rivets.
