Spitfire76's Build Log of ADDIMP3D DH-98 Mosquito

Having 3d printed a Spitfire and a Hurricane I started to look for another iconic British aircraft of WWII to build and decided on the De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito. None of the major designers of 3d printed planes seem to have one but found this and purchased the files.

This is the start of the build log for this plane but don't expect it to be quick as I have a whole bunch of 3d printed planes currently in various stages of construction.

I watched the 1964 movie "633 Squadron" last night. I had watched in many times in the past and have the DVD although I believe it's available streaming. I just love that theme tune and will play it while performing the maiden.

While that movie is fiction I believe it does depict the type of missions that some of the Mosquito squadrons were engaged in.

To understand more about the design and development of the Mosquito I followed episodes 26,27 and 28 of the "World of Warbirds" podcast.

I will use this LW-PLA as I have almost a whole reel left over from some other projects.

I have some light gray PLA (Bambu Lab PLA Matte) that I can use for the non light weight parts of the airframe.

It looks like if I go with a lower powered version using a 3s battery the whole airframe can be printed in LW-PLA but a hybrid airframe using a mixture of regular PLA and LW-PLA is recommended if using a 4s battery.

LW-PLA does crack easily on hard landings and I have had a few of those with other models so maybe the hybrid solution is the way to go. Before deciding I'll first print the LW parts that are common to both airframes.

It looks like there has been several updates between 2023 to 2025 so just trying to work out which are the latest ones to print. As I have Bambu Lab printers I need to use Orca or Bambu Studio.

This is the latest update

[EDIT 10/28/2025 STL update
Fuselage/common F3 & F4
Nacelle N3 (L & R)
Wing W1 (L&R)
Prusaslicer files (Orca and Bambu Studio will have to be adapted from 3mf PS):
Fuselage F1bis, F2bis, F3 to F7
Nacelle N2 & N3 (L & R)
Wing all parts (except W4 PR)
H-Stab all parts]

and these are the names of the files I downloaded

DH98-1_12-01-docs.zip 9.22 MB
DH98-1_12-03-slicer-V2.zip 125 MB
DH-98_stand.zip 312 KB
DH98-1_12-landing-gear-V2.1.zip 21.2 MB
