New design for the rudder and elevator servo mounts. Instead of just hot gluing its secured with screws.

I crashed this plane on Friday! I somehow lost control and dived into the shoreline. Its not a big deal as I already have a Simple Cub fuse made so just need to build a wing. This is the 4th plane that I have crashed at the lake this summer.

Hopefully will be back out here next Friday with a new Cub.

I've neglected this log for awhile but the last time I flew the Simple Cub at the lake it ended up nose down in the water and I had to use my recovery boat to retrieve it. It was really wet but although it was the nose in the water for awhile its the horizontal stabilizer that became really warped. In replacing the tail I discovered a discrepancy between the plans and the build video which was actually noticed back in 2018. The plan shows the bevel cut on the vertical stabilizer but in the video Josh has it on the rudder.

A new tail installed.

I will not be flying this again at the lake as I have not found a good method of water proofing foam board. I have a HobbyZone Carbon Cub with floats and I plan on flying that and this 3dprinted plane at the lake in the next few weeks.

I was trying to work out why the horizontal stabilizer of all the planes that I flew this summer at the lake seemed to be the first part to warp. Maybe its because they are made from a single sheet of foam board and not that rigid. Could some sort of spa help?. Anyway something to think about.

How do you seal your edges? ModPodge, poly, iron?

That should certainly do it. I've had success stripping the paper off both sides and replacing with thin packing tape but that won't take paint very well.
The water doesn't seem to get in through the edges but the tail gets splashed a lot and just after a few flight is quite warped. I am not going to spend time on this at the moment but maybe revisit it in the future.

Just for my own curiosity, are you using FT maker board or dollar tree with polyurethane?
