Pictured above is my idea for landing gear that was derived from a quick modification to some ParkZone T28 gear I had sitting around. (To the left is my beater gear that never actually works)

I needed some more robust landing gear than the rubber band and bent wire but I wasn't about to pay $15 to $20 dollars for aluminum struts. In a bit of an act of desperation I started playing with some landing gear I have used on my Flying Wing is the past. After an hour or so of fiddling I got the idea to bend the landing gear axle 90 degrees outward/inward and use the existing hook shape at the end to brace against the bamboo skewer.

What you will need:
  • 3 popsicle sticks
  • 1 set of ParkZone T28 wing gear (about $5.00)
  • 2 pairs of plyers
  • a drill or something to make holes with
  • some muscle (it is some tough metal)

The two popsicle sticks at the bottom push the gear away from each other and prevent the popsicle stick spacer at the top from sliding up or down. The popsicle stick spacer has holes drilled into it so that the space between the holes is the same width as the power pod. Rubber bands hold it in place similarly to the suggested method Bixler uses.
